Support for First Responders

The Center is offering an hour of complimentary mediation to support first responders and their families.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has been a significant source of stress for many families.

In recognition of the invaluable work being done on the front lines to keep our communities running, we are offering free one-hour mediation sessions to all first responders.

Family mediation, marital mediation, and couples mediation, serve to help families resolve conflict and preserve the relationships that matter most.

All sessions are currently being conducted online, via Zoom.

For families needing more than one session, sliding scale and no-fee services are available.

A Source of Stress

The CDC has warned that the outbreak of coronavirus can provoke overwhelming emotional reactions in adults and children. Additionally, research shows that first responders have a high risk of experiencing work-related stress.

As a result of pandemic-related stress, individuals may experience changes in sleep or eating patterns, mental health issues, or increased use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Any of these individual problems can threaten the stability of our relationships with spouses or other family members.

Mediation to the Rescue

How can mediation help couples resolve conflict to maintain their relationships?

Mediation focuses on developing concrete plans to address the problems that couples are dealing with. For example, it can help people resolve issues related to household finances, scheduling, or parenting and discipline.

If you’re considering mediation, get in touch and let us know a little bit about your situation. If mediation isn’t the right fit, we will connect you with other resources to meet your needs.

If you or a loved one are experiencing substance abuse or mental health issues please call the SAMHSA’s National Helpline 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
