Testimonials from Previous Students
I took [the] training last year and have since added divorce mediation to my law practice (which was also a departure from my six years as a corporate lawyer). Not only did I recoup the cost of the class, but as others have suggested, I found the approaches helpful generally in other areas of practice. The materials have continued to help me. The instructors were tremendous and inspiring. Further, I made some very good friends from the class.
I found the training to be extremely useful. Going in, I had no idea what mediation was actually all about and how it differed from the negotiation I had been doing for years. Now, I not only know the difference but also see how to use that alternative approach, even in a classic litigation context, to reach a result the clients can live with — something which is particularly critical when there are custodial issues. The instruction from Steve and Ken (and the guest instructors) is solid and useful. I recommend the course even if you never intend to mediate because the techniques you will learn are universal.
My Basic Training with the Center for Mediation & Training was the best possible start to my career as a mediator. I was nervous about my first few mediations, but I really felt that the Center had given me the resources to tackle the work.
You can’t get any better training in Divorce Mediation.
The Center for Mediation & Training is run by three wonderful mediators (and people!) whose training styles and professional backgrounds offer the new mediator complimentary perspectives on the process of mediation. I have learned a great deal from all of them.
The training gave me a whole new perspective on dispute resolution. I highly recommend this training, not only for those interested in as mediation practice, but for all family law attorneys.
The training program at the Center was comprehensive and thought provoking with the extensive experience and varied perspectives of the trainers providing valuable insight and a thorough overview of the field. The Center not only prepared me to begin a mediation practice through the depth of the program itself, but through support which extended beyond the training and into the nuts and bolts of building a practice.
After Basic Training with the Center for Mediation & Training, I was asked to appear for a mediation session due to a work emergency. Considering the ink hadn’t even dried on my certification, I allowed myself a quick well-deserved full blown panic attack, attended the mediation session and can honestly say, I am forever hooked on Mediation! It was compelling to experience how easily I was able to draw upon the tools I learned from the amazing trainers and utilize them towards an effective outcome! I am thrilled to continue my training with the Center for Mediation & Training and complete the Supervised Practicum, the Marriage Mediation Course, the Advanced Divorce Mediation Training, and whatever else the Center has to offer. This was the easiest decision I ever made!
